« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »

Since Halloween is right around the corner, this week I have been slappin' The Devilz Rejectz…

House

This week I have been slappin’ the brand new album by The Devilz Rejectz, House of the Dead. The Jacka of Pittsburgh California and Ampichino of Akron Ohio come together on House of the Dead for the second Devilz Rejectz collaboration. Ampichino, who recently signed to Smoke-A-Lot records, has close ties to the Bay and is featured on many different Bay artists’ albums. House of the Dead has a ton of guest features that include: Husalah, Yukmouth, T-nutty, Mr. F.A.B. and Black Jesus just to name a few. The production on House of the Dead is precise and clean, you can tell that some time went into the mastering and perfection of each beat. Each track has a haunting feel to it that fits in well with the theme of House of the Dead. There aren’t too many tracks on House of the Dead that have that hype feel to it, but that is ok, because The Jacka and Ampichino have that slower flow that fits well with a slower brooding beat. House of the Dead kicks off with Dope Game featuring Dubb 20, which has a killer sped up vocal sample, the kind that was all the range a few years back; but that ish is still cool to me. Dope Game is a killer way to kick off the album and sets up the rest of the album. Hustle in the Rain is up next on House of the Dead and features T-Nutty and Husalah. I forgot how much I like T-Nutty, his flow/cadence is off the hook and his rhymes are ill. Husalah comes in on the end of the track with his half singing, all hardcore street raps to round off the track. Hustle in the Rain is off the hook, so don’t sleep on this track. By now you are only a few tracks in and you can really get that dope vibe from The Jacka and Ampichino. Their raps and styles are very complimentary; they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Getting into the heart of House of the Dead we have slappin’ tracks like Same World featuring Black Jesus, Death to my Enemy featuring Husalah and Lil Rue, and 911 featuring Lataisha Latrelle. 911 has a dope chorus from Lataisha Latrelle and the hook about “pies” rising in price after 911 is crazy. Most rappers try to stay away from the subject of 911, but Ampichino and The Jacka aren’t afraid to push the boundaries. Now that’s some real Bay shit! The end of the album is not lacking and ends on a high notes with tracks like Death is Fatale featuring AP-9 and V-12, and I Shot You Down featuring Fed-X and Smiggz. There seems to be a lot of collaborations between Bay artists and that is exactly what we need, and Ampichino and The Jacka as the Devilz Rejectz are killin’ it. Their release of House of the Dead right before Halloween might be a coincidence, but House of the Dead is no joke; it’s full of slappers and dope rhymes that will leave you wanting more.
