« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »
This week I've been keepin it thugged out...
This week I have been slappin’ the new album by the Thug Lordz, Thug Money. For you squares out there the Thug Lordz consist of Bay Area legends Yukmouth and C-Bo; Spice 1 also joined the group for the second album, but does not return for the Thug Lordz third project.Yukmouth and C-Bo return in high form though, and deliver a hard hitting, trunk rattling, slapper of and album. Thug Money features artists such as Tha Jacka, Ampchino, and Mr. Probz, yet does not rely heavily on the support of featured rappers to make a banger of an album. If you have ever heard C-Bo or Yukmouth, either as solo artist or as part of various collaboration, then you know that these two artist are no joke when it comes to the verbal street assault. As most of you know that I only be slappin’ real bangers so you should already know by reading this that every track on Thug Money is official. So I would like to take some time to talk about some of my favorite tracks on the album. First up has to be Wake Up featuring The Jacka and Mr. Probz. Wake Up features a down tempo smooth beat that we usually don’t hear C-Bo or Yukmouth spitting on, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t because Wake Up is the hottest joint on Thug Money. Mr. Probz laces the chorus with a smart, soulful message about turning tides and taking each day as it comes. The Jacka is no slouch on Wake Up either ripping the third verse and ending it with one of the dopest lines I have heard in years (you will just have to listen for yourself). Wake Up is in stark contrast to one of my other favorite tracks Thug Money.Thug Money will simply destroy your trunk. I can’t put my finger on the sound/effect but Thug Money features a music box sound that laces the background and strangely mixes with the baseand drums to create a truly gangster sound. Bo-Roc blesses the mic and contributes the chorus vocals to complete the thugged out sound. Those are just two of my favorite tracks on Thug Money, other bangers include My Hood, Look So Good, and Million Dollar Spot. Thug Money is a quality entry into the Bay Area Hip Hop scene from two of the biggest vets in the Bay Yukmouth and C-Bo. C-Bo returns hasn’t lost a step and actually has improved his rhymes in the recent future, and Yukmouth hasn’t stumbled a bit on his hustle. Thug Money is some of the hardest Hip Hop to hit the Bay in years. Cop it now.
