« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »
This week I have been slappin' the latest from Dj Fresh and Yukmouth...
I've been riding to the newest Tonight Show entry from DJ Fresh featuring Yukmouth Thuggin and Mobbin. As of late DJ Fresh and Yukmouth have been on their hustle; with Fresh pumping out Tonight Show albums with some of the best local artists and Yuk banging out three records this year, Free At Last, Thug Money, and Thuggin and Mobbin (there might even be more, leave a comment if you know!). Fresh and Yuk are two of Oakland's best and they both shine on Thuggin and Mobbin. Thuggin and Mobbin' kicks off with the intro with Yuk's shout outs and introduction of Himself, DJ Fresh, and the Whole Shabang. The Intro quickly leads into Thuggin and Mobbin the title track off the album. Thuggin and Mobbin kicks off the Tonight Show in the right way; if you thought Yukmouth was gone, Thuggin and Mobbin will wake your ass up. DJ Fresh's production on the track is unique, because its has a lighter feeling to it then most of Yuks hardcore beats. Fresh also chooses to use this high pitched voice to sing the hook which actually works really well probably, because it shouldn't go with Yuk's grimy voice. This wont be the last time DJ Fresh will use this voice on the album. Up next is one of my favorite tracks on the album I Move Mean featuring San Quinn, and J-Ro. I don't know where they found J-Ro last I heard (from Tash actually), was that he was in Sweden, but it doesn't matter, because he is BACK! Yukmouth and San Quinn are no slouches on their verses killing it with lyrics about doing it international. Some of the best rhymes from San Quinn this year. DJ Fresh laces the track with a beat that will make you feel like you are walking through the airport doing big things. This song SLAPS, get your passport game up. The features on Thuggin and Mobbin are crazy the two next track feature some of my favorite rappers in the game. All On One featuring Richie Rich and B-Legit, is all about the 16th letter, P. Pimpin! Richie Rich hasn't lost a step in his rap game, and kills the Mr. Tower produced beat. Yukmouth and B-Legit hold down the 1st and 3rd with some real game! Then after All On One we get Go Nutz. Go Nutz features The Grouch and Tech N9ne. I half excepted to hear N9ne on the album since of his Regime affiliation but The Grouch? That was a total suspire, but such a sick suspire. All three rappers have such different styles and it's refreshing to see three of the underground's best rockin' the same slammin' DJ Fresh beat. I can't wait to hear this song in the club, its about to make people lose their heads.Smoke-A-Lot, Living Legends, and Strange Music is oh so DJ FRESH. Those are not the only features on Thuggin and Mobbin: Ampichino, Young Boss and Zoe Tha Roasta lace verses on Rocka Bye and Matt Blaque rips the hook on I Smell Money. Thuggin and Mobbin really ends for me with You Kno This. You Kno This features a really hard track from DJ Fresh where he samples a Rihanna hook, his sample makes it sound like Rihanna is yelling out Yuk! You Kno This is some of the realest shit that yuk has wrote, speaks on Mac Dre, Pac, the robbery with Suge Knight, TMZ, George Lopez, know one is safe. Yukmouth doesn't take shit from anyone, and he makes it apparent on Yo Kno This. DJ Fresh has done it again with The Tonight Show: Thuggin and Mobbin, it's some real rap music that transcends if its street, conscious, backpack whatever, it doesn't matter if its good music. Go out and support the BAY and grab The Tonight Show Featuring Yukmouth: Thuggin and Mobbin.
