« Top Billin' SF (Live from the Mezzanine) »

If you didn't get to Top Billin' at the Mezzanine Friday, you truly missed out. Organized by Distortion 2 Static, Sweetbreads Collective, and Stash Magazine, Top Billin' was probably the biggest showcase of Bay Area and upcoming hip-hop talent of the year. Starting off with StreetMedia, then Jern Eye, J Billion, Freddie Gibbs, DaVinci, and finally Freeway and Jake One, the whole show was a heat fest.
Due to technical difficulties (excessive BAAAASSSSS) some of my footage is too distorted to watch. Fortunately, BMUSE of AlwaysHustle got plenty of footage himself, which I'll be sprinkling in here as he uploads it. Oh, and Freeway happened to bring some friends by the name of...well, I'll let you see that for yourself.
Hit the jump for the footage!
Jern Eye brought that old school hip-hop flavor to the show, doing 3 dope songs and finishing with his hit "Cali" with Spank Pops and J Billion.
Gangsta Gibbs!
DaVinci ripped his set. When he got to the stage, the crowd went absolutely crazy. Great to see so much hometown love for the Fillmore representative. He performed 4 or 5 songs off of his new free album, The Day The Turf Stood Still. If you wanna see more of DaVinci, just head over to Under The Bay Episode 12 to watch him spit some bars acapella and answer a few questions with Em Dub.
Thanks to BMUSE for this footage of Freeway!
