« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »
This week I'm rollin' HIGH!

This week I have been slappin' Humboldt County's own Pot Luck and their newest release Greatest Hits With My Buds. Consisting of UndeRated and 1 Ton, Pot Luck consists of some of the dopest emcees that you have never heard of. That doesn't mean that they haven't been on their hustle, releasing 6 full length albums since 2001, and they've toured with the likes of Tech N9ne, E-40, D12, and The Luniz. Greatest Hits With My Buds is a collection of tracks with some of the industries best, including The Luniz and Tech N9ne, as well as Chali 2na, and Mystik Journeymen. If you haven't figured it out by now, Pot Luck and their music is heavily influenced by the sticky icky; Greatest Hits With My Buds is filled with mary jane anthems. The album starts off with What We Are featuring Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko which shows off the lyrical prowess of UnderRated by having him spit as fast as he can smoke a blunt. The track is also produced by UnderRated which nicely showcases his love for heavy bass and fast paced drum beats. Stoner Bitch featuring Kottonmouth Kings is up next and it bangs. Stoner Bitch will have you turning your speaker box up to 11 and rolling up a phatty for the homeboys to smoke. Kottonmouth Kings and Pot Luck's style really blend well on this track with each rapper supporting the last. There are also several smoothed out tracks on Greatest Hits With My Buds including No Disrespect. No Disrespect has a reggae vibe that really works for it, even though 1 Ton and UnderRated spit hard on the track, the song feels like it could be on a Mavado album. Going back to the harder, more West Coast funky style songs we have You Ain't That Fine featuring E-40. You Ain't Fine gives us that slick, pimped-out Forty Water feel that we know all too well out here in the Bay. Pot Luck keeps it real underground with Hip Hop featuring Living Legends stand outs Mystik Journeymen (LuckyI.Am and Sunspot Jones). Pot Luck really show thier range with a track about loving the culture of Hip Hop, not just smoking pot. Greatest Hits With My Buds has a ton of bangers, I meen its a greatest hits album so you know its going to knock. What I really like about the album is the wide range of artists, from Tech N9ne to Chali 2na back to Twizted and The Luniz there is something foreveryone. So sit back, relax, roll one or five up, and enoy Pot Luck's Greatest Hits With My Buds.
I know I usually write about two albums or artist, but Greatest Hits With My Buds got me so high that I forgot to listen to another artist...
