« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »
This week I'm keepin' it trill and taken it back a little in honor of the upcoming Rock The Bells Show.

This week I have been keepin' it trill to Bun B's Trill O.G. Released August 3rd, 2010 Trill O.G. is Bun B's third solo album and has recently received 5 mics is in the Source. Now I'm not reviewing this album because it got praised by the Source, I actually just found that out, I've been slappin' it because Bun B is off the hook with his smoothed out Texas flow. I have been a fan of U.G.K. since Dirty Money and I have always enjoyed the combo of Bun B and Pimp C (R.I.P.). so when Bun B continues the legacy of U.G.K. I will be there slappin' away. Trill O.G. starts off with Chuuch!!! featuring J. Price (just on the intro). Chuuch!!! is a U.G.K., Rap-A-Lot, South Hip-Hop anthem, it's a great starter for the album, because it shows off the skills and cadence of Bun B. Next up is Trillionaire featuring T-Pain, and I really could do without it. The song is produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E league, but it seems like it was produced for T-pain even though he only sings the hook; and I'm sorry I'm really over Auto Tune. That is really my only qualm with Trill O.G. and it really doesn't have anything to do with Bun B. One of the highlights for me on Trill O.G. is Right Now featuring Pimp C, Trey Songz, and 2pac. First off Pimp C kills his verse, which kicks the track off real tight. Trey Songz handles the hook with his normal swoon, but the real highlight is Pac's verse. Bun B was quoted before the album drop as having a verse from Pac that know one has heard. Now if you are a 2pac fiend like me you have heard this verse before, but Right Now was built around and for this 2pac verse. Right Now is a must slap track, DO IT NOW. Ridin Slow featuring Slim Thug is an official Texas banger. Now I can hear you know, this is a Bay Area blog man, well Bun B and the Texas sounds greatly mirrors the base and tempo of mid 1990's Bay Area rap. Other bangers on Trill O. G. include Let Em Know produced by DJ Premier (great classic Premo sound to it), Real Live featuring The Gator & GLC, andI Git Down For Mine. Trill O.G. is a certafied classic that you will be bumping for a long time. I urge Bay Area Hip Hop fans to expand a little if you haven't already and check out one of the South's true legends.

Since the annual Rock The Bells festival is right around the corner I have decided to play out the classic Wu-Tang album Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) which was released in November of 1993. I'm sure most of you have already played the hell out of this classic album, but lets take a look back at one of if not the best rap group of all time and their debut album. 36 Chambers introduces us to the RZA and the whole crew (I'm not going to do the typical list of names like you expected me to) and gives us a fresh new style that was no existent in New York Hip Hop at that point. 36 Chambers has influenced the likes of Nas, and Notorious B.I.G. and countless other rappers. It showed the world that Rap beats didn't have to be over done (RZA's minimalist production), and it gave us the likes of Method Man, Ghostface, and Raekwon. The whole album bangs, highlights include the classics C.R.E.A.M., Method Man, and Bring Da Rucks. If you do not own this album, or at least heard it several times please don't read my articles until you have. If you have heard Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) before and you are headed to Rock The Bells play it again because the Wu will be performing it in its entity and there is nothing worse then the guy next to you trying to sing a long and just butchering classics. Word!
