« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »

This week I have been slappin’ some straight Bay ish’….

First before I get into What’s Slappin’ In My Trunk, I want to give it up to my boy Em Dub. I just want to give it up to my boy for putting me on, and doing a hell of job running Thizzler On The Roof. Its hard work people and my boy Em Dub is constantly hustling to bring us the newest and freshest Bay slappers. Keep up the good work homie I see big things in the future!

This week I have been bumping Berner and Messy Marv’s Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks. The two San Francisco natives are riding off their 2009 release Blow, thus giving us the follow up “concept” album Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks which is all about pushing that white girl. Ya Boy Boy Mess has been known to do collaboration albums with the likes of Yukmouth, Mitchy Slick, Guce, and San Quinn, but Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks seems more like a Berner platform to me. That doesn’t mean that Messy only has a few verses here and there, it just seems to me like Berner is the major factor in the album. That doesn’t mean that Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks is slackin’, the album is slapping and it features two of the hardest hitting rappers in the San Francisco and the whole Bay. Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks kicks off with the Berner only Well Connected (this is the only solo track from either artist). Well Connected is an official slapper about putting in work with pushing that Keyshia Cole. The track is a great introduction if you haven’t slapped Berner before. The production on Well Connected is A+; the track has a slow brooding beat, with a haunting vocal loop that makes you feel like you were making moves across state lines. Following Well Connected is Dolla’s featuring Shoboat. Dolla’s features a hard hitting club beat that you could dance to, or cruise through your hood too. Shoboat kills his verse and steals the song, I have never heard of him before, but I most defiantly will be checking out more of his music. The boy can rap. Another banger on Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks has to be Warrior featuring Ampchino and San Quinn. Now I Can hear it now, San Quinn? I thought Mess and Quinn were beefing. Well I thought so too, and apparently they aren’t anymore and it’s for the better, because they can make some serious bangers. San Quinn actually makes a few appearances on the album, so I think the two cousins have squashed their beef. Other bangers on Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks include Heard About Me featuring The Jacka and B-Legit. Heard About Me will have you riding high and snappin’ you neck till it snaps. Yukmouth and Lee Major kill their feature on I Get It. Lee Major even has a rap about sippin’ on a four Locko, boy is crazy for just drinking that shit. Blow-Blocks and Boat Docks stays on track with its concept theme. I can’t stand when artists have a good idea for a concept album, and then four tracks in the album goes in a totally different direction. Berner and Messy Marv come together to create one of the highlights of Bay Area rap music in the year 2010. Cop this new album and Marv and Berner will put you up on some game.
