« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »

This week it's all town bidness....

Town Bidness, Vol. 2 - Richie Rich

This week I've been slappin' the latest from Richie Rich, Town Bidness Volume 2. Richie Rich has been a staple in the Bay Rap game for over 15 years laying down tracks with Mac Dre, E-40, 2pac, Too $hort and host of top hitters from the Bay and beyond, so when I saw that Richie Richard was dropping a new album I had to cop. Town Bidness Volume 2 features the likes of Lil John, J. Stalin, Manny Fresh, Devin The Dude, Shady Nate and more, but it's not the features that make Town Bidness Volume 2 dope, it's Richie Rich smoothed out articulate but street delivery that gets this record poppin'. Town Bidness Volume 2 kicks off with Drought featuring Lil John and Manny Fresh. Drought is laced with a slow brooding heavy bass drum beat that goes perfectly with Richie's voice. Drought is almost 6 minute long, but don't play half and skip the other; you will be missing out. I really want to know where Richie Rich dug up Manny Fresh? Drought was the first single off Town Bidness Volume 2, but it only gets better from here. Following Drought we have  We Do This. Touting one of the more club friendly beats on Town Bidness Volume 2 We Do This is a banger that will have speaker  boxes and clubs cracking. We Do This has a hook by a Auto-Tunned cat that I don't usually feel, but when used in a sparing manner, like on We Do This the whole Auto-Tune thing works. Richie Rich takes a different approach from We Do This on the next track Born In It. With a higher tempo beat Richie Rich lays down a rare faster flow on Born In It. It's refreshing to see a veteran in the game change his rap style up a few tracks in. It shows how versatile Richie Rich can be. Born In It with its deeper message and dope flow is one of my favorite tracks on Town Bidness Voldume 2. Now what would a Richie Rich record be without a weed/drug track? It would proably be good, but Richie Rich gives us Blow Mine featuring Dyson and Devin the Dude. Rich has some of his dopest metaphores and verses on Town Bidness Volume 2 on Blow Mine. One of my favorites has to be, " This is me you might as well face it. The songs you love when I wrote them I was wasted." Now how honest is that; that's what we call 100 kids. Now on the same tip as Blow Mine we have Robo [R2D2] featuring J. Stalin and Shady Nate. Robo [R2D2] is a track all about the lean with dope verses from Nate and Stalin the track is a slapper about that purple drink. The REAL dope thing about Robo [R2D2] is that use an actual R2D2 sample on the beat! How different and unique is that?! I love it when rappers and producers take a stab at something new and it just works. Don't miss Robo [R2D2]. Other bangers on Town Bidness Volume 2 include Dragon 4 Life, Pounds of Work, and Cleena. Town Bidness Volume 2 his hands down the best work I have heard from Richie Rich in a long while. It's good to see him back in the game as strong as ever. Now we holler NEW BAY a lot around here at the THIZZLER, but lets show some love for the Vets in the Bay and cop that new Richie Rich, Town Bidness Volume 2.
