« Show Recap: The Alkaholiks with QM of Rec League »

Last Saturday night I lived out one of my Hip Hop dreams: see a Alkaholiks' show- and man was it amazing. 

Who: Tha Alkaholiks and QM of Rec League.

Where: 330 Ritch San Francisco, California.

When: Saturday, 12th 2011.

What: A dope rap show.

Why: To get tore up.

For those of you not in the know Tha Alkaholiks are a legendary crew consisting of J-Ro, Catastrophe, and E-Swift (on the 1's and 2's). The group has released five albums and is considered one of the West Coast's most influencial Rap groups. Tha Alkaholiks broke up in 2006 after the release of their final albuim Firewater. 

QM is an up and comming rapper repping the Rec League. Hes been on the grind as of late killing shows and doing tracks with the likes of Richie Cunning and Dregs 1. QM is a good friend of ours at The Thizzler and was previously featured Under The Bay as well as Under The Bay Season 1: The Mixtape. When I asked him if he was excited to perform he told me, "This is one of the biggest shows I have ever done".

My sister (a big Hip Hop fan) rolled out to the club with me, because you guys know I can't be riding dirty and I was definitely going to get my drink on at Tha Liks show. We showed up early to get our gurp on around 9pm and the crowd was just starting to trickle in. QM and I kicked it and politicked for a while, the guy's a good cat, you can tell he loves Hip Hop. QM was supposed to go on at 930pm, but the show was pushed back a little late so we took the opportunity to go out back and roll a blunt. 

So QM hits the stage and the crowd goes wild, seriously people rushed the stage. QM is a dope MC the only reason I was surprised was, because I didn't know that many people were in the know. I guess we are doing our job around here at The Thizzler. QM rocked the mic for only a short time, I wanted more! That's the only complaint I have about his set...it was too short!

Now things get a little hazy about this time....Yaddimean?

The Alkaholiks hit the stage HARD! I thought it was only a joke in their rhymes, but they seriously pour beer on the crowd. They had a magnum of Goose and were filling up everyone's cup. The dance floor was packed and drinks were spilling everywhere. The Liks played a good mix of the classic 21 And Over and Likwidation joints, but also mixesd in some new ish from Firewater. Half way through the set Tha Liks even brought out Vallejo's own Mac Mall. Even though he didn't really perform the crowd went crazy and T's were thrown. At one point I'm throwing a T dancing the next thing I know the show is over; I guess all good things must come to and end. Oh and Tha Liks jumped off stage into the crowd and all three of them had about 6 breezies waiting in the wings. 

This was not a show to miss.  If you ever get a chance to catch a Alkaholik show make sure you get there! The good thing is QM isn't going any where so make sure you check out his live show, because he took the party torch from The Alkaholiks and lit a blunt with it!
