« What's Slappin' In My Trunk »
This week I'm taking it turf to turf...
I'm connecting the dots from across the Bay this week, because I'm riding to Da Bidness Part 2; bringing together Keak Da Sneak from Oakland, Messy Marv from San Francisco and P.S.D. hailing from Vallejo. If you were totally out of the loop a few years ago Keak, Mess, and P.S.D. put out a hell of an album with Da Bidness. The three reunite well sort of (P.S.D is still locked up) for their follow up, Da Bidness Part 2. Keak, Mess, and P.S.D. all have very unique voices and styles that represent their hoods, but mesh as one united Bay Area. Now as mentioned before P.S.D. aka Stevey D is still locked up, but he is featured heavily on Da Bidness Part 2. It's good to hear from P.S.D. he has always been one of my favorite rappers/singers out of the Bay and was an instrumental figure in the Thizz empire. Now lets get into the album...Da Bidness Part 2 kicks off with Out Of Time! which is a slow brooding banger that sets the tone for Da Bidness. Out Of Time! features all three MC and their distinct styles; if you didn't know what you were getting into by buying Da Bidness you know now. Ghetto Love featuring Big Rich follows with a catchy piano loop and a hardcore first verse from P.S.D.. Big Rich does his thing in Messy's place and laces the track with his flow, which I'm really feeling. You don't have to be from the "ghetto" to be riding to Ghetto Love. Now you might remember the hit single Cus Cus from the first Da Bidness, well for Da Bidness Part 2 the trio gives us the follow up Bruh Bruh. Bruh Bruh has to be one of the dopest tracks off the album the hook features samples from Cus Cus and the beat slaps! P.S.D. takes a cue from his partna Mac Dre and does his verse for Bruh Bruh over the phone from the penn a-la Back In Da Hood. The verse is hard with P.S.D. speaking on the charges, haters, and imitators. Some real ish for sure. Another one of my favorite bangers off the album follows. Caboose featuring Husalah and Vital isn't the booty anthem you think its going to be; in fact its the exact opposite the song speaks on waiting for your time whether that be getting out of jail or for your time in the spot light. I haven't heard a lot from Husalah since he has been out, but his verse on Caboose has to be some of the hardest rhymes he has ever wrote. If you wanted to write off Hus take a listen to Caboose and you will know the real deal. For those of you who love features you are going to be geeked off Treal. The song features Nio The Gift and E-40 which I have never heard these two on a track together. It's also nice to see Sick Wid It and Thizz working together, E-40 actually gives a little rap about this saying he has always been cool with Stevy D in his rhyme. Keak Da Sneak kills his verse on Treal as well it has to be one of my favorite Keak verses on Da Bidness Part 2 keak has that sonic blapper voice that you are all aware of that just meshes with this beat. You might be saying to yourself what about Ya Boy Boy Young Mess? Well slap the Bidness Man Crush featuring Samm. This song was built for Messy and his drawn out flow, he rides the beat like a young cat on a Duccati off some lean...real smooth. You will not want to miss out on these other bangers: My Ride (Remix), Get You Some featuring Clyde Carson, and Comin' Thru Featuring Baby Bash. There really isn't a bad track on Da Bidness Part 2 you will want to play the album straight through over and over. Da Bidness Part 2 is more then a platform for P.S.D. it is what the Bay Area needs; three MC from three different hoods with three different styles making good music together. I am a firm believer that artist in the Bay need to support each other and Da Biddness Part 2 is the pinnacle of that. So support good local music and cop Da Bidness Part 2.
Oh yeah i almost forgot....FREE STEVY D!
