What's Slappin' In My Trunk - Revenue Retrievin' Edition Part 2
We are going to keep it movin' with the Graveyard Shift...
This week I have been the slappin' the fourth installment of E-40's Revenue Retrievin series Graveyard Shift. If you thought it couldn't get any better from Overtime Shift then prepare your self for Graveyard Shift. E-40 makes sure to bring his friends along for Graveyard Shift; features include: T-Pain, Tech N9ne, B-Legit, Droop-E, Marty James, Philthy Rich, Bun B, and many, many more. Graveyard Shift kicks off with a true slapper. Barbarian hits the speakers with a crazy boom, that will have your ears ringing. The "your a barbarian savage, a savage" sample loop is classic Forty. Barbarian is a great way to kick off the album; it keeps things flowing from Overtime Shift. One of my favorite tracks for the double disc is up next. Serious featuring T-Pain is one of the hardest tracks off the Graveyard shift. When I first saw the track listing I automatically thought the T-Pain track was going to be the over done club banger, but I was pleasantly surprised. That's not to say that Serious doesn't slapp, but it has a different message about hustling that might not play out to a dance track. I'm not a big T-Pain fan, but he takes a different approach on Serious where he doesn't "overdue" his vocals, which I really appreciate it makes every element of the track shine. Serious is hands down my favorite track after this next one. Fried featuring Marty James and Tech N9ne is the party anthem to Revenue Retrievin'; all four albums and who better to party with then Tech N9ne and Marty James. Fried is that party track about being trashed, and just having a good time. Look out for Fried its going to be one those tracks that takes over the streets, club, and radio! The next banger up is 43 featuring B-Legit. 43 is probably the most complete E-40 track that I have heard in years. The beat has that drawn out stand out bass line, that breaks down with some G-funk breaks. The beat for 43 is heavyweight dope! Then you have B-Legit on the second verse, where he just kills it. Then you have Forty breakin' it down verbally, just killin' it! 43 has some of his best lyrical work on Graveyard Shift hands down. Like i said previously there are just way too many tracks to cover all them, but other bangers include That Candy Paint featuring Slim Thug & Bun B, E Forty, I'm That featuring R.O.D. and Fast Quarter featuring Thug Lordz. E-40 has blown me away with 4 albums in 1 year on which every track slaps. E-40 hasn't taken any short cuts with Revenue Retrievin and his return to Mobb Music has solidified his riegn as the king of the Bay. I wanted to make sure I hit on some points before I ended this special edition of What's Slappin In My Trunk. Cousin Fik, Laroo T.H.H., Stressmatic, Bosko, and Mike Marshall were all big parts of Overtime Shift and Graveyard Shift, I was really feelin' all there work on the albums, but just couldn't get to them. E-40 has done it again and again and will continue doing it. If you like E-40, if you like Bay area rap, hell if you love rap music in general make sure you cop both of E-40's new albums Revenue Retrievin': Graveyard Shift & Overtime Shift.
