« Rapping In The Mirror Tour (Show Recap) »

This last Thursday it went down at the Rockit Room in SF for one of the final dates of the Rapping In The Mirror Tour.

Who: Equipto, BOAC, Mike Marshall, Z-man, and DJ Quest.

What: Rapping In The Mirror Tour

When: Thursday April 7th

Where: Rockit Room, 406 Clement St. San Francisco California

Why: To get down on some dope local Hip Hop

The Rapping In The Mirror Tour made one of its last stop this past Thursday in San Francisco, and it was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Local Hip Hop heavy weights Mike Marshall, Equipto, BOAC, DJ Quest, and Z-Man were pumped to hit the stage and show their city some love. I met up with Mike Marshall before the show to talk and blaze, which is exactly what we did-that guy can really smoke! Big shout out to Mr. Marshall for keeping it 100 with not just me, but all the other fans who he talked and kicked it with him.

Mike Marshall was first up on the mic and the crowd was juiced. Mike Marshall hit the stage and did some of the classics and some of the new material off K.I.M 2 which had the crowd two steppin' and jumping. I have to say it's pretty refreshing to go to a show and hear something different then just rapping. Mike Marshall finished up his set which was way too short, but that wouldn't be the last time he hit the stage.

Equipto was up next and he continued the mic carnage. I ran into Queezy before the show and he told me he wasn't feelin' that good but, regardless of his health he was still going to rock the stage, and that's exactly what he did. Equipto defiantly had the most people rockin' with him; you could tell most of the crowd was out to see him on the mic. Equipto did a good mix of old and new, and even though he was feelin' under the weather he did what any good rapper should do; bossed up and gave the people what they wanted!

BOAC was to follow Equipto. Now I have to keep it 100 because, that's what we do at the Thizzler...I only caught a small portion of BOAC set but, from what I saw BOAC handled his business. I don't know if everyone at the show was familiar with BOAC and his work, but after his set I saw and could hear people buzzin' about him. I got a second to talk to BOAC and he's a real down to earth cat, make sure to catch him if he is ever in your town!

Z-man took the headlining position, around 1:00am. I was a little disappointed in the crowd; most of the crowd took off before they could see one of the freshest sets of the night. Z-man held it down with high stage energy that kept the crowd rocking even in the late hours of the night. In my opinion Z-man has one of the most slept on stage performances in the Bay.

At the end of the Z-man set, BOAC, Mike Marshall, and Equipto with DJ Quest all came on stage to do a little encore with actual mirrors in hand! Around 2:00 am the crowd wanted more, and Z-man, and DJ Quest wanted to give us more, but the plug was litterally pulled on the music by security.

DJ Quest as well as Mike Marshall held it down all night performing with every artist. Big shout out to DJ Quest who had the party rockin' all night!

The Rapping In The Mirror tour is why I love Hip Hop. All local artist who are talented who have different takes on Hip Hop who collaborated on a dope live performance. Did I mention every artist was kicking it with fans, smoking, selling CD, or just chopping it up with the crowd. Shaking hands and kissing babies.

Real Hip Hop is alive!

Big shout out to Laura Weyl for providing the footage! Check out her website www.metagasm.net which is now in our link section.
