This week I'm keeping things positive....

BPos - Pos Tapes Vol. 2

This week I've been slapping San Francisco's own Bpos and their new mixtape, Pos Tapes Vol. II. For those not in the know Bpos has had several of their mixtapes featured on Thizzler and consists of D-Wiz (MC), Goodword (MC), and Johnny Venetti (DJ). Pos Tapes Vol. II is the second mixtape in a trilogy that the group is working on, make sure you catch Volume I. right here on Thizzler.com. Bpos has been taking an interesting direction with the Pos Tapes series having a featured producer for each mixtape; Tahaj The First of DrumDealerMusic takes the duties for Pos Tapes Vol. II. Along with Tahaj The First Bpos bring a long a host of Bay Area underground MC along for the ride including Seneca, Equipto,SoundEarth, Kahfre, Z-man, and Spank Pops as well as a gang of others. Pos Tapes Vol. II kicks off with a certified banger, The Radio featuring Gadeon. The Radio is a statement to public that Bpos is hear to represent positive underground Hip Hop even if its not going to be on the radio. Too many "artists" see being on the radio as success, but Bpos understands that radio play doesn't necessarily equal success. Dope featuring Kahfre which is the lead single off Pos Tapes Vol. II is up next and man is it tight! (you thought I was going to say it was Dope right?). First off the video for Dope is excellent, it has a fresh creative fun feeling to it that is lacking from Bay Area Hip Hop videos, check it out. D-Wiz and Goodword kill their back and forth verses dropping knowledge on topics that range from raising their sons and daughters to fallen Bored Stiff member Dub Star. Next Johnny Vennetti tears up the scratching even mixing in some DMX; if a song can feature a little DMX its all good in my book. And lastley on Dope Kahfre kills the chorus laying down a smooth vocal track, that brings every part of the track together to make it one of the most complete  Bay Area created Hip Hop songs that I have heard in a long time. Another dope track off Pos Tapes Vol. II has to be Try Featuring Kafre. Try has a dope feature from Kafre, rapping, this time who kills wack MC who can't even try "and only rap three sheets to the wind". I mean don't we all have a friend who "raps", but only when they are drunk and then they are just doo doo. Shit made me laugh cause I know like ten people like that. Other bangers on Pos Tapes Vol. II include  I'm High featuring Tess, Catchin Up featuring Seneca, and Something Big featuring Z-man. I could sit here and break down every song or name this track or that track but here are the simple facts you need to know about Pos Tapes Vol. II: The mixtape features tight mixing and scratching from Johnny Venetti. Complex and thought provoking lyrics from D-Wiz and Goodword. Laid back yet head nodding production from Tahaj The First and a gang of dope features. You take all of those elements and roll them up and you get a feel good, creative, slappin' mixtape that is Pos Tapes Vol. II.

Oh I forgot, did I mention that Pos Tapes Vol. II is free!!?? Cop it now on BPos website www.bposmusic.us.
