Why: To kick off the Three The Hard Way Tour.
Last Wednesday night it went down out in the Concord California to kick off the Three The Hard Way Tour. Note Berner, Equipto, and Nump are not on the tour, but were out in force to rock the mic. With an all-star cast of some of the dopest up and coming, as well as established vets in the Bay the house was filled with good vibes and breakin' drum beats.
The show kicked off with a performance by 4Trees; a trio of MC from up north, Oregon. To be honest I don't know if it was, because 4Trees went rather early or rather everyone was busy getting white boy wasted at the bar, but it didn't seem that the crowd was feelin' them. They were pretty talented guys, and I hope more people get up on their hype next time they swing through the Bay.
The real party started with 4Two7 and his hot new single Butta On Your Muffin Top. The catchy track really got the people out and seats and giggin'. I got to give the man props for holding down the mic and for having a solid crew that was down to rock the stage as well as work the crowd. Keep and eye out for this guy in the future.
Right about this time B-Legit walked in the room and the building started to buzz. As people were millin' around and choppin' game with B-Legit ST Spittin and Plane Jane hit the stage for a little surprise performance. ST and Plane Jane had the crowd rockin' with their mix of lyrical assignation and great performance skills. Much props to Plane Jane and ST for making and impromptu performance a great one.
I can't forget Z-man, and DJ True Justice hosting and holding down the stage in between each performer. Z-man is always the character and had the crowd jamin' and laughin' their asses off. More people need to recognize the Z-man.
Next up was the main event Nump, Mike Meezy, Equipto, and Berner. Nump was working the crowd all night choppin' game and it seemed like he had a big contingent out in Concord. He got the party lit with his unique style of Hip Hop which will always get the crowd giggin'. Big shout out to Nump for taking a second out and talking to the kid. We spoke on his single Macho Man Randy Savage and filled me in telling me, "it didn't start as a tribute song for the fallen wrester, but has turned into one" he seemed pretty happy about that. Be on the look out for new material from Nump coming February 14.
Equipto hit the stage hard following Nump with unannounced guest Mike Marshall. You know Mike Meezy always gets the crowd excited and and Equipto brought the house energy to 11. I've seen Mike Marshall and Equipto several time and each show is different and unique, something I really enjoy. Never a stale show. These two were some of the only cats that didn't rap over their tracks which should be the norm, but sadely isn't.
Berner hit the stage in force and the room quickly filled with smoke. Even though Berner was headlining I was expecting more people on the floor, but it seemed like the crowd was a little thin. It didn't matter though cause Berner ripped the mic and had the lucky few that caught the show smackin' hard. I haven't seen Berner before, and I got say I was pretty impressed, he held it down and had a serious, but good vibe going.
The only problems I really had with the show wasn't on the performers but with the club itself. Time Out Bar and Grill had one of the worst sound systems I have ever heard. Note to the sound guy: Get your shit together man! The bar tenders were slow, ugly, and dumb; next time I'm bringing my own. And what's up with the no pot smoking? Your gonna have a Berner, Mike Marshall, Nump show and no smoking aloud.
The show was one of the better ones I have seen in a long time. It's too bad that Nump, Equipto, and Berner are not going on tour with the rest of the performers, but that's life. If your down for dope lyrics and a good old fashion Hip Hop show make sure to catch The Three The Hard Way tour, and if your in the Bay double make sure to catch Nump, Berner, and Queezy at any function that they are at. Some real trill shit.
