This week was another crazy week with tons of mixtapes, music videos, and MP3's dropping from the vets to the next generation of artists. The Sunday Rewind is here to help to make sure that you didn't miss anything crucial.
City Shawn - Forever (Hosted by Traxamillion) (Free Mixtape)
San Jose stand up! This week City Shawn took over Thizzler with his newest mixtape, Forever. Produced entirely by The Dreem Teem and hosted by Traxamillion, clearly the production value on the project is no joke. Throughout all 20 slaps, Shawn kept the features to minimum and really showcased his ability to spit impressive verses and write memorable hooks. The tape is available for free download, but if you aren’t convinced you can peep the leaks, and watch Shawn and Traxamillion speak about the project On the Thizzler Roof.
DJ Ghost and Thizzler.com - The Bay Report November 2013 (Free Mixtape)
Every month, DJ Ghost’s, The Bay Reports, are some of the most popular posts on Thizzler. So you already know what it is. Ghost picks the hottest tracks from the past month and delivers them in a super clean DJ mix. November’s Bay Report features City Shawn, Iamsu, Rico Dolla, Berner, J Stalin, D-Lo, E-40, Philthy Rich, Snow Tha Product and more. As always it’s free so cop that ASAP.
Sage The Gemini - Swerve (Music Video)
It was another big week for Sage The Gemini. He was interviewed by Charlemagne The God and the Breakfast club, dropped a video for “What You Got” with Show Banga, and was featured on “Kiss It” by Dev which was produced by Hit-Boy. But most importantly he dropped his 3rd video from The Gas Pedal EP, “Swerve”. Check out every thing Sage did this past week, and as always stay tuned to Thizzler for new music from The Gemini.
MC Hammer Presents: Oakland Fight Club - Raider Nation (Music Video)
HAAAAAAMEEEEEER! Every now and again MC Hammer will unexpectedly appear on a Bay Area hip-hop track, and then go quiet again. Yet with all the promotion that he has been doing with Oakland Fight Club, it appears as if he’s making an effort to once again be a consistent presence in our local scene. Hammer has always been a giving man, and he seems to be using this platform to give some additional shine to Oakland’s next generation of MC’s including Thizzler regulars Gigs510 and Ace Kayo.Peep the new video featuring bars from Mistah F.A.B., Gigs, Kayo, Black Drez, and Hammer himself, all shot at the Raiders vs Steelers game that took place last weekend.
D-Lo - Tic Toc (Music Video)
D-Lo has some of the catchiest music in The Bay, and this week he continued his run with the new Yiking anthem “Tic Toc”. The hook asks the ladies to move their booties back and forth like the hands on a clock, and the video features a nerdy girl letting her inner freak out by twerking at the school talent show. Expect to hear this one at the club and at many a house party.
Matt’s Pick: Shady Blaze - Objective: Get Rich (Music Video)
While The Sunday Rewind is aimed at highlighting the most high profile music that dropped throughout the week, I personally find myself listening to a lot of the tracks that get overlooked. So I thought i’d the take the time at the end of each Sunday Rewind to highlight one song or album that has grabbed my attention. This week it comes from Shady Blaze.
In my humble opinion Shady Blaze is one of the Bay’s premier lyricists, and it’s not just because he has the technical ability to rap at mind numbing speeds. While his penchant for double time rhyming does make him stand out from practically every other Bay Area rapper, whether spitting fast or slow, every word out of Shady’s mouth matters and he has the courage to rap honestly about life’s struggles. This is the case in his new video, “Objective: Get Rich”, in which he proclaims the desire to get rich, not for material purposes, but to escape much of the B.S. that we all deal with when the cash is low. Check out the video and keep your eyes peeled for Shady’s upcoming project, Green Ova’s Most Hated, coming soon.
