In a major drug trafficking investigation coordinated by Sacramento federal prosecutors, agents have arrested 25 people in three states, including several rappers from Vallejo, U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner announced today.
The Vallejo rappers and others arrested are associated with "Thizz Entertainment," started in 1999 as a record label promoting and producing rap artists in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily from the Crest neighborhood of Vallejo.
Among those arrested were: Michael Lott, who performs under the name "Miami the Most"; Major Norton, known by the performance name of "Dubee"; Gaylord Franklin, also known as "Geezy"; and Bruce Thurmon, who performs under the name "Little Bruce."
"Thizz" is street slang for the drug MDMA, also known as "Ecstasy." In many songs recorded under the label, the lyrics glorify and promote the use and distribution of MDMA pills. Criminal complaints on file in Sacramento federal court allege that some targets of the DEA-led investigation engaged in large-scale drug trafficking while releasing rap albums under the "Thizz Entertainment" label.
