Desta Dawn hasn’t released anything since 2016’s 602, a 5-track EP inspired by classic R&B feels of the past. Her latest release “Set Me Free” is a smooth acoustic guitar-led ballad about the liberating effects of falling in love. She admits that she no longer wants to fight the facts. She’s now ready to accept all her that enamoring lover has to offer. Sometimes it feels as if the Bay’s music scene is lacking when it comes to R&B vibes, but then we’re blessed with an occasional gem from Jane Handcock, Samaria, 1-O.A.K, or Desta Dawn. Check out “Set Me Free” above. You won’t be disappointed.
