Thizzler: Where are you from? How was your upbringing?
Money Making Sace: I’m from Plaquemine, Louisiana my guy. It’s a small little city outside of Baton Rouge. I moved from Plaquemine around like 5 or 6 yrs old, then I moved to Austin Tx. I moved around a lot as a kid, my mom and my step pops was always relocating cause of new jobs. So I’ve lived in Austin, TX, Hutto, TX, Round Rock, TX, San Antonio TX, Williamsburg, VA, Chesapeake, VA, Clear Lake, TX, and Fresno, TX. It kinda sucked cause I always was making new friends, then having to leave them. But I wasn’t really trippin. I love my parents though, they did a great job man. I feel like I owe my T-Lady the world for moving me out the hood, no cap.

T: How did you begin making music?
MMS: I started making music like Senior year of high school. Lol, that shit was POO! I was hungry though, I stayed in the lab. Whether I was rapping, engineering, song-writing, managing, performing, or producing, I stayed working. I honestly started when I didn’t make my high school basketball team. Basketball was everything to me; I wanted to play for Tom Izzo at Michigan State. But, shit hit the fan, I was average and my attitude was terrible. It was time to grow up, so I hopped on the mic.

T: How did you get your rap name?
MMS: To be honest, I gotta give it to my little sister, “Muffin”. I remember I needed a tag for my music and I told Muffin to say “La’sace’s my brother”. But Muffin just said “Sace’s my brother”. Every since I just rocked with Sace. I wanted my rap name to have meaning though. So I decided to make Sace a word. Sace means to overcome adversity with positivity. I done seen a lot of folks go down the wrong path. Hell, I could have myself, if I let not making the basketball team crush me. As far as the “Money Making”, I decided to add that to my name when started to take rap serious. Like now, this shit is my life. Ain’t no plan B, this is who I am. So now money will start to roll in because I’m not half-assing.

T: How would describe your musical style?
MMS: I can’t really explain my musical style. I just get in the booth and be Derreion Demond Nealon, A.K.A., “Money Making Sace”. Sometimes I’m pissed off, so you might get something off the wall like, “S.O.B. or Last Nyte”. Or you might get something cool like, “Walk in Yo Spot” or “Babyy”. But if I could call it something, I call my style, “Trap-Pit”.

T: Tell me about “Solar Flare”.
MMS: Mannnnnne, S/O to JIGGAONDABEAT. When bro sent me the beat I went NUTS! I immediately started writing lol. Solar Flare is just a lifestyle bro, that’s just I’m how I’m living. I really just might DM your chick, and tell her to take ME shopping. But you know, it’s Doppo Orochi in the flesh. Mr. OneTakeShawty. You know, Sir Sace. Same shit, been breaking backs since the Similac. Don’t say my name around your wife, unless you got a mob. You know, flossed the fuck up.

T: What inspired this new single?
MMS: Really I was just watching Naruto in the crib; Kakashi and Itatchi was going at it. This was when COVID just started booming. Everybody was starting to get hip to the mask. So I just said out loud, “Mask on the face, like I am Kakashi”, and the rest is history. Hit my engineer up and went to work.

T: How is it different than previous drops?
MMS: I sound like I actually do this shit now . Like before I struggled with my sound, because I was nervous about what people would say. Now I’m like, if you don’t like it, that’s cool, because the shit sound hard to me. So Solar Flare is in your face, no holding back.

T: Will it go on a project? If so, can you tell me about the album?
MMS: It just might, I got a lot in the vault right now, so  me and my team are trying to put things in order. The album will be called Van Gogh, and it just might fuck the world up. I can’t even lie, I’m proud of myself.

T: What message do you want fans to walk away with after listening to “Solar Flare”?
MMS: My message is the same in every song. Just be yourself. I know it might sound simple but just be you. Everybody trying to be somebody, but nobody want to be themselves.

T: What’s next?
MMS: More bangers, and testing the waters. As you can see, Solar Flare got that Rock N’ Roll vibe. I don’t want to be cliche, I’m trying to bring something new to the table every time.

T: Is there anything else you want to say?
MMS: Yea, I’d like to say that it’s cool to worship God. That dude likes music to0, so don’t think you have to be a weirdo to make good music. With that being said, stay healthy.
